V-House, GOA
Nestled away in a quiet, sloping corner of the serene Aldona Village in Goa, away from the maddening crowds of booze loving hippies, is V-House. Built as an expression of the terrain around it, V-House is a contemporary villa built with traditional materials and modern techniques like a Stabilized Rammed Earth + CSEB composite structure built to house a family of 6 and their diverse needs. Locally abundant laterite dust was used in two ways, as rammed earth and CSEB made in-situ. The site's natural contours were enhanced to provide a play of levels within the house making for interesting punctures and roofing patterns. The Mangalore tile capped slope roof, paying homage to the elegant Portuguese manors of Goa, is another locally sourced material that further strengthens the green cred of V-House.
